Camp & Community Programs Administrator (Canada Summer Jobs)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes QVCC related administrative tasks that contribute to the quality of experience for people from all backgrounds

  • Engages in the promotion, tracking of fees and bursaries, expenses, and attendance for camp and other QVCC summer programs

  • Maintains accurate registration records and provides regular verbal and written activity and statistical reports on the summer camp program and participation

  • Completes QVCC report for camp in consultation with Camp Coordinator

  • Ensures that receipts, cards, and thank you letters are sent to donors

  • Updates camp bulletin board including photos of summer activities

  • Helps to foster a supportive, inclusive, 2SLGTBQIA+ positive and culturally sensitive environment that is welcoming to children, families, seniors, and other individuals

  • Assists with providing information and referral services, free services, and volunteer mentoring for the community support programs

  • Responds to general inquiries by phone and in person regarding QVCC, and to share in the work of maintaining a neighbourhood centre

  • Participates in community events

  • Covers relief in Reception, Community Programs, and for Camp Leaders as required

  • To be familiar with and implement QVCC’s Policies & Procedures

  • Performs other related duties when required and approved by the Childcare Coordinator and/or Program Manager

Role:

  • Assists the Camp Coordinator and Childcare Coordinator to plan and administer the Quadra Village Community Centre’s (QVCC’s) summer camp programs

  • Provides information and support to parents of children attending the camps

  • Works in conjunction with the Reception Team and Community Programs Coordinator to assist with the Community Support Program

Qualifications

  • Proficient in basic computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and Internet usage

  • Record keeping, organization, analytical and planning skills

  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

Applicants must be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program. *To be eligible, youth must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;

  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment, and

  • have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

 *International students are not eligible.


Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline such as Health Management, Business Administration, Education, Child & Youth Care, Social Work, or Recreation Management,

  • Established experience transferable to non-profit management, systems and administration

  • Standard First Aid and CPR Certified


Hours of Work and Other Contract Terms:

Hours of Work: 35 to 40 hours Monday through Friday

Term:

  • Part time training hours occur during the week of June 15, followed by 10 weeks of full-time work with a completion date of August 28

  • Closed on Statutory Holidays

Remuneration and Benefits:

  • $24.63 per hour, plus additional 6% vacation pay

  • Immediate enrolment in the Employee & Family Assistance Program
