Housing Resources
Our housing Resource Program has reopened!
The Housing Resource Program supports individuals and couples, without dependent children, who are 19 years or older and at risk of losing their housing. We aim to fill a critical gap in housing support by assisting individuals and couples not served by other programs. This is a service that primarily relies on volunteers. We can offer guidance and support to help you explore your housing options.
While we do not have our own housing or financial assistance, our volunteers can help with:
· Navigating housing-related systems, such as BC Housing, affordable rental applications, seniors housing application, and more
· Understanding your rights as a tenant and how to advocate for yourself
· Finding and connecting you with community services that may offer housing support(s)
· Referrals to programs or agencies that provide financial, legal, or emergency assistance
· Supporting you in communicating with landlords or service providers
· Assistance navigating online rental portals and other web-based housing services
· Offering support, encouragement, and information to help you feel more confident
Our goal is to help make system navigation more accessible, helping community members to feel empowered in advocating for themselves.
We recognize that the housing crisis is rooted in colonization, with Indigenous communities and other marginalized groups facing the brunt of this crisis. As guests on this land, we understand our responsibility to address the colonial systems that continue to displace and harm communities.
Always, we uphold in all our work that housing is a human right.
