Program Offerings
We will be hosting bi-weekly drop in programming for our Indigenous community members. These drop-in times will be one hour, where community can gather at the centre, share tea and coffee, gain access to supplies of traditional medicines.
The ongoing colonization of our people can be disrupted through community, presence, sharing of teachings and traditions, and continuing to disrupt the colonial agenda of keeping our peoples separate.

I often find that Sundays are the most difficult day of the week for me. I find that I spend the day regretting moments of the previous week that weigh heavy on my mind, and thinking about my responsibilities, commitments and obligations for the week to come.
Join me Sunday mornings from 8:30-9:15 for a moment to reset the week, and move forward with good intentions and a positive mindset.

Decolonial practice
The Indigenous Cultural Coordinator position acts as a resource and advisor for our program areas on how to recognize the presence of colonial values within our program and works with our staff team to unpack and unlearn these values, and understand the impact that colonialism continues to have on Indigenous peoples of Canada-and other racialized individuals.
About the Coordinator
My name is Ethan Louie, I am a member of the Nuu-Chah-Nulth First Nations, with my family coming from Ahousaht. I have had the privilege and pleasure of calling the lək̓ʷəŋən Traditional Territory my home my entire life.
I have been a staff member of the community centre since April 2018 when I first began to work in the Out of School Care program. Over the years I have worked in our childcare programs-having managed them for 5 years, I have worked in our Youth Programs, and I am now a full time student in the Early Learning and Care program at Camosun, where I am working towards my ECE certification, with a specific focus on Indigenous ways of knowing and being, informed both by my newly emerging understanding and my family values.
I have a deep passion for storytelling, especially learning the meaning behind our First Peoples creation stories. I recently have began my journey in learning about and developing my skills in art- taking inspiration from other Nuu-Chah-Nulth artists to understand how to see and recognize traditional form line art.
